Synopsis

The 2014 invasion of Eastern Ukraine and Crimea compelled him to write a novel that presents the excesses of Communist and Nazi regimes and the threat from a relentless Vladimir Putin
The back cover, below, description was written in 2020 and foretells the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Putin’s imperial ambitions led to the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and Anderson updated and republished his book.

2020: Escape From Ukraine was a timely reminder of Russia’s undeclared wars and a glimpse into the future of Russian neighbor states. The resolve of NATO, the European Union, and the United States may be tested as President Putin seeks lifelong power.2022: Lo and behold, two years after publishing this book, Putin invaded all of Ukraine making Escape from Ukraine a full length metaphor worth reading. The historical novel was re-published in 2022 with better graphics and more focus on Putin.

Epilogue

The 2020 publication of Escape From Ukraine was “Dedicated to the displaced Ukrainians.” I had in mind Crimeans and also future displaced peoples from countries neighboring Russia.
Russian President Putin has been clear: that he would reverse the “geopolitical disaster of the century,” the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union.” He would reconstitute a new empire for the 21st century–and rule longer than the 32 years of Joseph Stalin and the 34 years of Empress Catherine the Great.
We saw the savage results of that quest in Grozny and Aleppo, and now we see it in Mariupol, Kharkiv, and every other Ukrainian city–the wanton killing of civilians and destruction of cities.
Except for Russian, Chinese, and North Korean populations, where access to news is restricted, the world now witnesses Putin as a war criminal.
